RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini field hockey team found its offense today at Edith Robb Dixon Field, as the Cavaliers scored a 4-1 win over Hendrix College.
The win improved Cabrini to 2-5 on the season and snapped its four game losing streak.
The four goals more than doubled the Blue and White's offensive output through its first six games. Its 18 shots also marked a season high.
The Cavaliers took the lead in the early minutes, as junior
Brittney Morello scored her first career goal just under three minutes into the game. Despite building a 10-1 advantage in shots, Cabrini led just 1-0 at the half.
The Cavaliers made their chances pay off in the second half, recording three goals on eight shots.
Sophomore
Gabby Thompson doubled the lead in the 42nd minute, punching a loose ball into the Hendrix cage.
Junior
Katie Kucia accounted for two of those goals, marking her first career multi-goal game. The junior dribbled past a defender for a 49th minute goal then converted a centering pass from sophomore
Trisha Billig into a 60th minute tally.
Thompson led the Blue and White with a career best seven shots on the day, two more than Morello.
Junior goaltender
Devon Scharf recorded two saves to claim the victory.
Senior Holly Heeb scored the Warrior's lone tally in the 70th minute and accounted for four of Hendrix's (1-3) five shots.
The Cavaliers will look to start a win streak next Saturday when they visit former Colonial States Athletic Conference foe Cedar Crest College. Game time is set for 12 noon in Allentown, PA.
