RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini volleyball team dropped the opening set and faced a pair of set points in the third frame, but in the end the Cavaliers rallied to score a 3-1 victory over the visiting Swarthmore College Garnet tonight at Nerney Field House.
The Blue and White's third consecutive win improved the club to 12-6 on the season, while the Garnet fell to 10-3.
Four Cavaliers recorded at least seven kills in the 20-25, 25-20, 29-27, 25-12 triumph. Sophomore
Steph Judkins led the way with 19 digs and 12 digs, while junior

Amelia Ballard joined Judkins with double-doubles, as the duo recorded 21 assists each and combined for 29 digs.

Gina Custer added a career best 19 digs.
The Garnet built an early lead in the opening set. Despite the Blue and White evening the score at 5-5, 7-7, and 8-8, the Cavaliers could not pull ahead. Swarthmore increased its lead to 21-16 before cruising to an opening set win.
Cabrini built a comfortable lead in the second frame, as four consecutive Swarthmore errors helped the Cavaliers build an 8-1 lead. The Blue and White cushion did not get below four until a late 5-0 spurt pulled the Garnet to within 23-20. Cabrini quelled the comeback as a Kelly kill and Ballard service ace leveled the match at one set apiece.
The lead swung back and forth in the third set, but down 21-19, the Cavaliers rallied for four consecutive points, as a block by Dalton and senior
Kassie Ockford put Cabrini ahead 23-21. After a Garnet point, a Dalton kill gave Cabrini a 24-22 lead. Swarthmore responded again, posting two consecutive points to tie the score at 24.

Emily Shannon gave the Blue and White its second set point, but back to back Cabrini mishaps allowed Swarthmore to regain the lead at 26-25. The Cavaliers had an answer of their own, as Dalton and classmate
Marie Hamilton posted kills to secure a 27-26 lead and a third set point.
A Swarthmore kill tied the set at 27, the 14th and final deadlock of the frame, as a Garnet service error and Judkins kill ended the set and put the Cavaliers ahead 2-1.
The Cavaliers carried the momentum of the thrilling third set into the fourth, as they opened the set with a 9-1 run and never looked back. Cabrini maintained a double figure advantage for much of the set before pushing its cushion to 13 points.
Mehra den Braven led the Garnet with 15 kills and 13 digs, while Alyssa Nathan paired 34 assists and 15 digs.
The Cavaliers will enjoy their first free weekend of the season before opening Atlantic East Conference play on Tuesday with a trip to Immaculata (2-6). The inaugural Atlantic East match for both clubs is slated for 7pm in Immaculata, PA.
