Cavaliers to Honor 9 Seniors
Prior to tonight's match, the Cavaliers will honor their nine seniors,
Dani Acevedo,
Derrick Amoako,
Chris Araujo,
Justin Barbuto,
Thomas Butz,
Mike Gould,
Andre Justin,
Richie Montesdeoca and
Kostas Slikas.
As a group, these student-athletes have led the Blue and White to 39 victories, three conference championship games, including the 2017 CSAC title and the program's first ever NCAA Tournament victory.
They have combined for 75 points on 27 goals and 21 assists with 88 saves and a 1.08 goals against average in their 453 appearances in the Cabrini kit.
Last Meeting: Cabrini 2, Wesley 1 (11/1/2018, Radnor, PA)
Cabrini punched its ticket for the inaugural Atlantic East Conference championship game with its slim 2-1 semifinal win over the Wolverines.
Jared Irwin ('19) and
Matt Ochman ('19) accounted for both of Cabrini's goals in a four minute span early in the first half.
Holding an early lead, the Cavaliers turned to their defense, who fought of 23 of Wesley's 24 shots on the day. The visitors broke through for a 39th minute goal, but junior goaltender
Anthony Zampirri notched 10 saves to secure the victory.
Irwin led Cabrini with four shots, while Justin added two.
Chimaobi Ikwuagwu and Deekai Gbonimy fired six shots each for the Wolverines, while goaltender Kyle Springsteen notched a pair of saves in the loss.
Cabrini Last Time Out: Cabrini 3, Immaculata 1 (10/11/2019, Immaculata, PA)
The Cavaliers rebound from last week's conference-opening loss to score a win at Immaculata.
Freshman
Tyler Tomlin opened the scoring in the 19th minute, but an Immaculata penalty kick evened the game in the 27th. The deadlock did not last long, as sophomore
Dakota Bauer put Cabrini ahead for good two minutes later.
Justin converted a second half penalty kick for his team-leading sixth goal of the season, sealing the Blue and White victory.
The Blue and White outshot the Mighty Macs 12-8, including a 7-3 advantage in the first half. Cabrini also recorded 10 corner kicks to just four for Immaculata. Justin and sophomore
Nick Booth recorded three shots each, one more than junior
Ray Wilson.
Gould recorded a pair of saves to earn his second win of the season.
Wesley Last Time Out: Wesley 3, Old Westbury 1 (10/11/2019, Old Westbury, Long Island, NY)
The Wolverines scored three early goals and cruised to a road win in their final nonconference test of the season.
Sophomore Justin John-Langba opened the scoring in the 12th minute, while senior Luis Cruz added a pair of goals in the 15th and 26th minutes.
The home side got on the board in the 54th minute, but Wesley's lead was never threatened, as the Wolverines built a 14-7 advantage in shots and 11-3 in corner kicks.
John-Langba led the club with five shots, while freshman Kaiden Fields added three shots and an assist. Sophomore goaltender Jason Sommer was called on for just two saves in the victory.
