No. 7 Men's Lacrosse Rides 3rd Quarter Surge to Win at No. 9 Dickinson

CARLISLE, PA – The No. 7 Cavaliers scored eight goals in the third quarter to blow open a tight games, as Cabrini scored a 14-8 win at No. 9 Dickinson College. With today's victory, the Blue and White improved to 4-0 for the third time in the last four seasons.

Juniors Mike Gerzabek and Jakob Klein led Cabrini's attack, scoring three goals each and combining for 15 of the team's 47 shots.  Among Klein's three points today were the 100th of his collegiate career.

Senor Nicholas Waligurski and junior Tyler Kostack posted two goals each, as eight Cavaliers marked the scoring column.

Senior goaltender Riley White earned the victory in the Blue and White cage, recording 14 saves, while classmate Cassius Christie added a pair of saves in relief.

Junior Tommy DeLuca anchored the defensive effort with four caused turnovers, four ground balls and his second career goal. Sophomore Luke McCallion went 11-24 at the faceoff spot and scooped a team-high six ground balls.

The Red Devils built an early lead, scoring two goals in the game's opening four minutes, but the Cavaliers answered in a major way.  Cabrini scored the next five goals to build a cushion it would not relinquish.

Waligurski and Klein combined for three goals in a 93 second span late in the first quarter, giving the Cavaliers a 3-2 lead after 15 minutes of action.

Klein completed his natural hat trick midway through the second period, with Gerzabek's first tally pushing the lead to 5-2 with 3:31 left in the stanza.

The Cavaliers created some distance from the home squad in the third, scoring eight goals in the final 10:37 of the quarter.  Gerzabek and Kostack scored two goals each in the period, including a Gerzabek man-up goal, as six Cavaliers notched the scoring column in the frame.

Senior Jordan Krug's goal early in the fourth pushed the Blue and White lead to 14-5, before the Red Devils forced the Cavaliers to turn to their defense.

Dickinson outshot the Cavaliers 14-6 in the final period, but White and Christie combined for four fourth quarter saves to seal the victory.

Brodie Phillips led Dickinson (3-1) with two goals and two assists, while Joel May scored twice. Goaltender Cole Pellicano suffered the loss despite recording 14 saves.

The Blue and White will return to action net Saturday, when they welcome Ithaca College(2-0)  to Edith Robb Dixon Field.  The opening faceoff is slated for 1pm.
