Field Hockey Falls to No. 4 Salisbury

RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini field hockey team faced its second top-five ranked team in a span of four days, as the Cavaliers welcomes No. 4 Salisbury University to Edith Robb Dixon Field.

The Blue and White kept the Sea Gulls within arm's reach though 45 minutes, but a pair of goals early in the fourth quarter proved to be too much, as Cabrini suffered a 5-1 loss.

The Cabrini defensive effort was up to the task against the nation's 22nd ranked scoring offense through the first half. Cabrini fought off Salisbury's five shots and five penalty corner to keep the score sheet clean through the first quarter.

The Sea Gulls finally broke through Cavaliers' defense in the 26th minute, for the game's first goal.

Despite recording just one shot in the first half, the Cavaliers trailed just 1-0 at the half.

The Blue and White took advantage of a scoring in the opening minutes of the third quarter, as freshman Olivia Sims connected with junior Gabby Thompson to even the score at 1-1 in the 34th minute.

Salisbury regained its lead just three minutes later, before extending the lead in the 42nd frame.

The Sea Gulls pushed their cushion to 5-1 with a pair of goals in the opening three-plus minutes of the final stanza.

Cabrini (1-5) finished the afternoon with just three shots, with Sims attempting two, while senior goaltender Noelia Ramirez posting seven saves.

Junior Camryn Dennis recorded two goals for the Sea Gulls (7-0), while senior Arielle Johnston added three assists to her goal.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday, when they play host to Swarthmore College (1-3). Game time is set for 7pm.
