Field Hockey Stumbles vs. Swarthmore

RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini field hockey team could not find its offense tonight, as the Cavaliers fell to 1-6 on the season after tonight's 4-0 loss to Swarthmore College.

The Blue and White mustered just two shots and forced four penalty corners on the night. The visitors took advantage, posting 17 shots, inclulding nine on target, with 13 penalty corners.

The Garnet made their six first half penalty corners pay off, as sophomore Marian Carr found junior Chelsea Semper on set plays in the seventh and 19th minutes to give Swarthmore a 2-0 lead at the half.

The visitors extended their lead in the 39th frame when freshman Martina Kampel found Semper on the post. Swarthmore added its final goal in the 55th minute on junior Samie Martin's blast from the right wing.

Sophomore Lily Bonner and freshman Maura Tumelty accounted for Cabrini's shots, while senior goaltender Noelia Ramirez tallied five saves.

Sophomore netminder Aron Lankford posted a pair of saves to secure the shutout for Swarthmore (2-3).

Cabrini will face a tough task as it looks to make its return to the win column when it returns to action next Tuesday. The Cavaliers will face their third top-five ranked opponent of the season, as No. 5 TCNJ (5-0) will visit Edith Robb Dixon Field for a 7pm nonconference tilt.
