The Cavaliers snapped their nine game losing streak in dramatic fashion, as the Cavaliers erased a 15 point second half deficit to score a dramatic 103-99 win over the Wesley College Wolverines.
The Wolverines established a game-high 15 points in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Cavaliers answered with a 15-4 run. Six consecutive points by freshman
Jordan Brown pulled the Blue and White to within 64-60 with 12:33 to play.
Minutes later, a three from senior
Keith Blassingale evened the score at 69 before a
DJ Smith triple gave the Cavaliers their first lead since 2-0.
Trailing 93-88, the Cavaliers made their final comeback with just 2:15 to play. A pair of free throws by junior
Justin Gans put the Cavaliers ahead 94-93 with 59 seconds on the clock. Following a defensive stop, junior
Brice Parks drained his only triple of the game, giving Cabrini a four point cushion with 33 seconds to play. The Cavaliers iced the game from the charity stripe, where Blassingale and Brown combined to go 6-6 over the game's final seconds.
Blassingale led the Blue and White with 42 points, marking the most points by a Cavalier since
Kevin Misevicius scored 45 at Keystone on Jan. 4, 2010. Gans paired 21 points and 12 rebounds. Smith added 11 points, while Brown nine points and notched a team high five assists.
Junior
Billy Warren secured a game-high 13 rebounds, including nine offensive boards, as Cabrini outrebounded the visitors 47-42.
Valley Forge Last Time Out: Valley Forge 119, King's (NY) 87 (1/25/2020, Phoenixville, PA)
The Patriots used a dominant first half and hit the century mark for the seventh time this season, as they cruised to a home victory over King's.
After a few minutes of back and forth action, Valley Forge used a 28-4 run that turned a 15-14 deficit into a 42-12 cushion with 9:25 left in the first half. The Patriots' advantage swelled to 33 points on sophomore Steven Eng's three pointer at the 2:28 mark, but a late King's run pulled the visitors to within 72-46 at the half.
Valley Forge built an overwhelming halftime lead on the strength of .578 shooting, a 46-2 advantage in bench scoring and 26 first half fast break points.
Eight Patriots scored in double figures in the victory, led by Eng's 23 points, including six three pointers. Freshman Owen Bradford added 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals, while classmate Drew Grow paired 13 points and 11 rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench.
