WASHINGTON, DC – The Cabrini volleyball team suffered a pair of losses today, as it traveled to Washington, DC for a tri match. The Cavaliers could not hold on to a late lead, as it fell to Catholic 3-2 in the opener. The club could not recover in the nightcap, dropping a 3-0 result to Salisbury.
Catholic 3, Cabrini 2 (25-17, 23-25, 13-25, 25-23, 16-14)
Senior
Hannah Dalton fell just shy of her second 20-20 match of the season, pairing 20 kills and 19 digs. Freshman
Sam Heenan matched Dalton's double-double with 11 kills and 13 digs, while senior
Victoria Camacho added eight kills.

Lexi Conte and sophomore
Melanie Cotes-Rivera tallied 24 and 18 assists, respectively.
With the score tied at 11, the Cardinals won eight of nine points to grab a commanding 19-12 lead in the opening set. The Cavaliers rallied to within 21-17 before the homes side rattled off four straight points to close the frame.
After trailing 13-6 early in the second set, Cabrini slowly chipped away at its deficit. Trailing 22-18 and looking at a 2-0 hole, the Cavaliers responded, scoring seven of the last eight points of the set to even the match at one set apiece.
After exchanging points in the third frame and the score tied at 9-9, the Blue and White blew the set open. A 9-1 spurt gave the visitors a commanding 19-10 lead and a two sets to one lead.
The Cardinals built an 11-7 advantage in the fourth frame, but a 13-2 Cabrini run seemingly put the Cavaliers in control of the score board. Catholic responded with a 10-1 spurt of its own, regaining the lead at 23-21. Cabrini fought off one set point, but could not overcome a second.
Both teams battled in a final set that saw 10 tied. The Cavaliers grabbed a last 14-13 lead after a Catholic miscue, but could not serve out the match, as three consecutive Cabrini miscues resulted in the match-winning points for the Cardinals.
Salisbury 3, Cabrini 0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-14)
Heenan led the Blue and White with six kills to go with 12 digs in the nightcap, while Camacho notched four. Custer added 20 digs, while Conte and Cotes-Rivera combined for 21 assists.
The Sea Gulls established an early 8-2 lead in the opening set and forced the Cavaliers to play catch up. Cabrini battled back to within 12-11 but could not overcome Salisbury's 8-2 run.
Cabrini looked to rebound in the second set, but again Salisbury used an early 8-0 run to take a 10-2 lead. The Cavaliers never recovered before falling into a two sets to none hole.
The third set played much like the first two, as the Sea Gulls established an early and insurmountable advantage. The Cavaliers pulled to within 14-9, but Salisbury responded with a 4-1 run and never allowed Cabrini to get any closer.
The Cavaliers will return to Nerney Field House on Wednesday, as they play host to Centenary University. First serve of the Atlantic East Conference showdown is set for 7pm.
