Field Hockey Tops Immaculata for 4th Straight Win

IMMACULATA, PA – The Cabrini field hockey team extended its win streak to four games and improved to 3-0 in the Atlantic East Conference with today's 4-2 victory at Immaculata.

With just two games remaining on the conference regular season schedule, the Cavaliers are one of just two unbeaten teams in the league table.

The Blue and White opened the scoring in the final minutes of the opening period, as senior Kaitlyn Martin's pass found sophomore Caroline Gallagher for her 11th goal of the season.

The visitors doubled the lead in the 22nd minute, when Gallagher found junior Olivia Sims for her third marker of the campaign.

The Mighty Macs made the most of their only shot in the second quarter, pulling to within 2-1 at the 27:05 mark on a goal by Ryan Shemeley, but Cabrini answered just 17 seconds later, as Gallagher served a pass to senior Allison Martin to re-establish the Cavaliers' two goal cushion.

The Blue and White dominated the opening 30 minutes, outshooting the Mighty Macs 17-2 and earning eight penalty corners to nine for the home side.

Immaculata looked to make a move in the third quarter, as Gianna Gatto's shot found the back of the cage in the 38th minute.

Once again, the Cavaliers wasted little time with their response, as the Blue and White converted a penalty corner into freshman Adrianna Jones' fifth goal of the season.

Gallagher accounted for 11 of Cabrini's 28 hits on the day, with Sims adding six, two more than the Martin sisters.

Freshman goaltender Courtney Keith recorded a pair of fourth quarter saves to seal the victory.

The Cavaliers have a few days to enjoy today's victory, as they will not return to action in next Saturday, when they play host to Gwynedd Mercy University. The opening whistle is slated for 12pm at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
