RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini volleyball team suffered a pair of losses today at Nerney Field House, as the Cavaliers hosted a tri-match featuring Widener and Washington and Lee Universities.
The Blue and White dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to the Pride before falling to the Generals 3-0.
Widener 3, Cabrini 2 (25-20, 20-25, 26-28, 25-17, 16-14)

Hannah Dalton led Cabrini with 20 kills and 15 digs, while freshman
Sam Heenan paired season highs of 18 kills and 25 digs. Junior
Victoria Camacho added 13 kills.

Gina Custer matched a career high with six service aces to go with 34 digs. Senior

Melanie Cotes-Rivera directed the attack with 27 assists each.
After splitting the first two sets, the Cavaliers scored seven straight points late in the third to take a seemingly comfortable 22-17 lead. The Pride responded with 7-2 spurt, leveling the score at 24-24.
Back to back kills by Shelby Motz gave the visitors a 26-25 lead, but Widener committed three consecutive attack errors to give Cabrini a two-sets to one lead.
The Cavaliers could not build on their lead in the fourth frame, as Widener used a 7-0 run to break 10-10 deadlock, sending the match to a fifth and deciding set.
Cabrini seemed to be in control of the final set, building a 9-3 lead, but Widener slowly chipped away, tying the score at 12 and 13 before taking its first lead at 14-13. The home team fought back one match point before the Pride closed the match with back to back kills.
Washington & Lee 3, Cabrini 0 (25-17, 25-19, 26-24)
Dalton posted a match-high 19 kills in the nightcap, while Heenan paired six kills and 16 digs. Custer secured match high honors with 20 digs, while Conte and Cotes-Rivera combined for 30 dimes.
The opening set went back and forth in the early going, but with the score tied at 8-8, the Generals used an 8-1 run to build a 16-9 lead and never looked back.
The second frame played out much the same, with the visitors using spurts of 6-1 and 5-1 to secure a commanding 20-11 lead.
The Blue and White looked to extend the match in the third, clinging to a slim lead throughout much of the set. The Cavaliers led 19-16 late in the frame, but W&L used a 6-1 run to 21-20 lead, one that it would not relinquish.
Cabrini fought off a pair of match points, tying the score at 24, but could not hold off any longer.
The Cavaliers will close out their Atlantic East Conference schedule on Wednesday, as they head to Arlington, VA for a showdown with reigning conference champion Marymount University. Both teams currently sit at 4-0 in the league standings, with the winner to secure a first round bye in the upcoming conference tournament. First serve is slated for 7pm.
