RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini men's lacrosse team closed the home portion of its regular season schedule with a resounding 28-3 victory over Wesley College today at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
The win improved the No. 6 Cavaliers to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the Atlantic East Conference. The win also secured a bye into the semifinal round and a home game in the upcoming Atlantic East tournament.
Senior
Matt LoParo paced the Blue and White attack that outshot the Wolverines 58-21. The senior paired two goals and three assists to become just the seventh player in program history to record 100 career assists.
Seventeen other Cavaliers joined LoParo on the Cabrini score sheet, including freshman
Henry Moag, who recorded a game-high three goals. Among other goal scorers were freshmen
Ryan Cassidy,
Colin Dobrosky,
John McCormick and
Gerry Ulatowski, who each recorded his first career goal.
The Blue and White sparked its offensive rhythm from its success at the faceoff spot, where it went 28-35. Freshman
PJ Hewitt won 12 of his 14 chances with six ground balls, while McCormick went 10-14 with a game-high eight ground balls.
Four Cabrini netminders also saw action in the victory, with freshman
Matt Sageder notching one save in just over 16 minutes of action. Fellow rookie
Brendan King tallied three of the team's five
stops on the day.
Freshman goaltender Nathan Carey recorded 13 saves for the Wolverines (0-6, 0-5 Atlantic East), while junior Derek Hallock earned game-high honors with eight shots.
During halftime of today's game, Cabrini took a few minutes to recognize its Class of 2020, who did not get a traditional Senior Day celebration due to Covid-19.

As a group, they have appeared in 763 games, recording 493 goals, 434 assists, 1,052 ground balls, 382 caused turnovers and 245 saves.
These young men led the Cavaliers to 60 victories from 2017-20, the most victories for any class in program history. They went a perfect 20-0 in conference play, 8-2 in the NCAA Tournament and helped Cabrini win the University's first team NCAA championship.
The Cavaliers will close out their regular season on Wednesday, when they pay a visit to Gwynedd Mercy (2-4, 2-2 Atlantic East). The opening faceoff is slated for 4pm.
