GALLOWAY, NJ – The Cavaliers scored the first six points of the fifth and deciding set and led 13-10 but could not hold on, as the Cabrini volleyball suffered a disappointing 3-2 (13-25, 25-22, 25-16, 21-25, 16-14) loss at Stockton in a match that was originally scheduled for Sept. 1.

After surrendering the first three points of the match, the Cavaliers cruised through the opening set, building a 20-11 lead before junior

The second set was a much tighter affair, featuring 13 ties. The final deadlock came at 17 all, but the Ospreys rallied off five consecutive points to build a 22-17 lead. The Cavaliers pulled to within 23-21 and fought off one set point before dropping the set.
The home side blew open a tightly contested third set. Trailing 14-12, Stockton scored 13 of the next 15 points, cruising to a two sets to one lead.
Despite leading for much of the fourth frame, the Cavaliers could not pull away. The Blue and White built several four point cushions, but the Ospreys kept Cabrini within reach. Cabrini led 23-19, but a pair of Stockton points cut the lead in half. The Blue and White took advantage of a Stockton attack error before Cotes-Rivera found
Rachael Boyle for the final kill of the set.
The Cavaliers built a seemingly comfortable lead early in the fifth set and led 13-10, just two points from victory, but a 4-0 Stockton run gave the home side its first lead of the set. A Heenan kill stemmed the run and evened the match at 14, but back to back Stockton kills secured the 16-14 fifth set win.
Charlotte Leon led Stockton (2-6) with 18 kills, while Aubrey Rentzel paired 27 assists and 19 digs.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Friday when they compete in the Neumann University Knights Invitational. Cabrini will face Moravian an Pitt-Bradford on Friday at 4pm and 8pm, respectively, before meeting Messiah at 12 noon on Saturday.
