RADNOR, PA – The No. 13 Cavaliers scored a season-high 16 goals today, as the Cabrini men's lacrosse team topped Eastern 16-12 in the men's lacrosse version of the Battle for Eagle Road.
The Blue and White's fourth consecutive victory marked the first time the local rivals have met since a Cabrini 19-3 win in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament and just the third men's lacrosse contest between the Cavaliers and Eagles.
Seven Cavaliers marked the scoring column on the victory, led by junior
Mikey Vanaman's four goals. Fellow junior

Jake Schneider added three goals each.

Zack Kaut keyed both sides of the field, pairing a career best two goals with a career high four caused turnovers. Sophomore

Matt Nestler secured the victory, posting six of his seven saves in the second half.
Kaut got the Cavaliers off to a great start, scoring the game's first goal just 19 seconds after the opening whistle. Vaughan and Vanaman added markers to give Cabrini a 3-0 lead less than six minutes into the game.
The teams combined for four goals in a four minute span late in the opening quarter, as the Cavaliers carried a 5-2 lead into the second quarter.
While the Eagles opened the period with back to back goals, pulling to within 5-4, the Blue and White recorded the next three. Drift's man-up goal pushed the lead back to two goals, with Vanaman and junior
Austin Bolton extending the lead to 8-4 with four minutes left in the period.
An Eastern goal late in the second sent the teams into the halftime break with Cabrini holding an 8-5 advantage, despite outshooting the visitors 29-9.
Both teams found their collective shooting tough in the third quarter, as they combined for nine goals on 19 shots in the frame. While the Cavaliers pressed to pull away, the Eagles had an answer for each Cabrini goal.
After alternating markers through the first half of the quarter, Schneider's goal at 6:55 put the Blue and White ahead 12-7, the team's largest lead of the game. Following goals by both teams, Schneider again pushed the cushion to five goals with just 90
seconds left in the third, but the visitors gained some momentum, pulling to within 13-9 with just two ticks remaining in the period.
Eastern stayed hot, scoring the first two goals in the fourth, cutting its deficit to 13-11 with 10:11 to play. The Cavaliers wasted little time regaining the game's energy, as Huey won the ensuing faceoff and found Kaut for his second goal of the day and three goal lead.
Minutes later, Vanaman and McManus found the back of the net in an 11 second span as the Cavaliers regained their five goals lead with 5:29 to play.
The Cavaliers outshot the Eagles 47-27 on the day, with the quartet of McManus, Vanaman, Schneider and Vaughan combining for 27 of the Blue and White's attempts. The Blue and White tied a season low with just 14 turnovers, while causing 19 Eastern miscues, also a season best for the Cavaliers.
Junior Nicholas Fanelli and freshman Christian Fanelli combined for seven Easter goals, while senior Connor Killion handed out three assists. Sophomore goaltender Ethan Myers recorded 11 saves in the loss.
The Cavaliers will turn their attention to Atlantic East Conference action on Wednesday, as they open conference play with a trip to Centenary University. The opening faceoff is slated for 3pm in Hackettstown, NJ.
