#14 Men's Lacrosse Stays Perfect in AEC with Marywood Win

RADNOR, PA – It took the Cavaliers a few minutes to find their offensive rhythm, but when they did, the put the visiting Marywood University Pacers quickly, as No. 14 Cabrini cruised to a 20-5 victory today at Edith Robb Dixon Field.

Twelve Cavaliers marked the scoring column, as the club extended its NCAA record conference win streak to 131 games, including four in 2022. Junior Mikey Vanaman led the way with six markers, while classmate Dillon McManus added three.

The Blue and White controlled the faceoff spot, winning 16 of 29 draws. Senior Jake Huey went 7-10 with four ground balls and an assist, while freshman Tyler Carroll secured six of his eight chances with four ground balls.

While Cabrini recorded 59 shots on the day, its second most of the season, the club also recorded a season with 17 caused turnovers. Graduate student Colton Padgett led the way with five caused turnovers and five ground balls, while seniors Matt Hughes and Matt Young caused two each and combined for six ground balls.

Four Cavaliers also saw time in the Blue and White cage. Graduate student Matt Nestler recorded four saves in 45 minutes of action to secure the victory, but it was junior netminder Rob Pensabene, who provided th highlight of the day.

With just under five minutes to play, Pensabene collected a loose ball and sprinted up the left side of the field, where he found classmate Gerry Ulatowski. While the Pacers expected him to stop, the netminder continued on, receiving a Ulatowski pass before beating Marywood goalie Connor Reed for the rare goaltender goal.

Junior Austin Bolton opened the scoring just over two minutes after the opening whistle. The score would not change for another six plus minutes, but when it did, the flood gates opened. The Cavaliers scored four goals over the next two minutes before the Pacers got on the board.

Vanaman and McManus recorded goals in a five second span, as the Blue and White closed the first quarter with four goals in the final 3:08 to lead 9-1 after 15 minutes.

The Cavaliers scored two goals early in a low scoring second period, but staked claim to an 11-2 halftime advantage.

Vanaman and McManus combined for all four goals in the third period, as the Blue and White lead swelled to 15-2 with 15 minutes to play.

Both clubs exchanged goals in the opening five minutes of the fourth, but the Cavaliers responded with four goals in a span of 3:24, as Ulatowski, Pensabene and freshmen Zack Riegler and Wyatt Haney marked the scoring column.

Freshman John Scibello led Marywood with two goals, while Reed finished with 12 saves.

The Cavaliers will look to extended their conference win streak next Wednesday, when they visit Neumann University in a rematch of the 2021 Atlantic East final. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7pm in Aston, PA.
