RADNOR, PA – The No. 12 Cavaliers scored early and often, as they cruised to their fifth consecutive win today, topping the visiting Immaculata Mighty Macs 22-6 today at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
Sixteen Cavaliers recorded at least one point led by junior
Dillon McManus, who matched sophomore
Tommy Vaughan with four goals. Junior
Gerry Ulatowski and freshman
Clayton Hollinger added three goals each, while juniors
Mikey Vanaman and
Austin Bolton notched three points.
Cabrini's dominance at the faceoff spot keyed the Blue and White's offensive attack, as the Cavaliers won 28 of the game's 30 draws. Senior
Jake Huey and sophomore
John McCormick combined to go 20-20, while freshman
Tyler Carroll claimed eight of his 10 chances. The threesome also corralled 21 of the club's 56 ground balls.
The Cavaliers gained control of the action in the early minutes, as McManus scored two of his goals in the opening three plus minutes of the day. Hollinger added a pair of first quarter marker, as Cabrini built a 6-0 lead after the first quarter.
Trailing 7-0 in the first minute of the second quarter, Immaculata graduate student Steven Long put the visitors on the board with the first of his three goals. The Cavaliers quickly returned to its next scoring run, notching 10 unanswered goal to take a 17-1 lead into the halftime break.
The Cavaliers offensive dominance was evidenced by the team's 82 shots, the program's most since recording 81 in a 27-2 win over Rosemont on April 20, 2013. Cabrini's five man-up goals, 56 ground balls and 12 turnovers also marked season best performances.
Immaculata freshman Bailey Mannion matched Long with three points, while senior goaltender Cole Metzger recorded 21 saves in the loss.
The Cavaliers will head south on Wednesday, as they will make their first ever trip to Marymount University. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7pm in Arlington, VA.
