On Tuesday afternoon, Cabrini Field Hockey continued Atlantic East Conference play against the Pacers of Marywood University. Marywood entered the match with a conference-leading 9-3 (1-0 AEC) record.
In the game's opening minutes, Cabrini jumped out to a 2-0 lead.
Off a cross from
Daly Ewing,
Adrianna Jones chipped the ball above the sticks of two nearby defenders.
Kayla Ledbetter played the bounce and placed a shot off the right post, in front for
Molly McGee. McGee cleaned up the rebound to score the game's opening goal.
Cabrini added goal number two in the fourth minute. On the play,
Adrianna Jones sent a penalty corner to
Caroline Gallagher, who beat a string of defenders to the left side. Gallagher then tucked a shot inside the near post to extend Cabrini's lead.
Despite the hot start, Cabrini was unable to protect their two goal advantage against Marywood's high powered offense. The Pacers scored in the 12th, 18th, 21st, and 32nd minute, and held tight defensively to take the 4-2 victory.
With the loss, Cabrini slides to 6-6 on the year with a 1-2 record against Atlantic East opponents.
Cabrini will play their final non-conference game at home against Stockton University. Their match begins at 6pm on Thursday, 10/12.
