Gallagher Makes Cabrini History in First Round Victory

Santana and McGee score twice, Gallagher breaks two assist records.

Radnor, PA - On Saturday, Cabrini Field Hockey hosted the Knights of Neumann University in the Quarterfinals of the Atlantic East Conference Tournament.

Scoring Summary

The Cavaliers offense got going late in the first period. As Caroline Gallagher stopped the ball on the right endline, she played across to Molly McGee. McGee lifted a one timer for the match's opening goal.

Cabrini notched another to start the second quarter. Sammie Voelker played ahead to Caroline Gallagher at midfield, then Gallagher carried to the shooting circle. With Adrianna Jones and Molly McGee beside her on the break, Gallagher was able to maintain enough space to work her own score.

The Cavaliers' third goal came minutes later. As Adrianna Jones received an in-air pass, she quickly settled and got a shot on goal. The rebound off her follow went to Leany Santana, who buried the ball from the right post.

In a goal that mirrored the game's first, Gallagher fed McGee from the right corner. McGee again found the left side of the netting to put Cabrini ahead 4-0.

Leany Santana crafted the Cavaliers' fifth goal before halftime, as she turned inside then shot backhanded to beat the oncoming Knights' goalkeeper.

Cabrini's final goal was provided by Morgan McClintock with 90 seconds remaining in the match. With her back facing the cage from the left corner, McClintock sent the ball inside, where it came off the goalkeeper's pads and rolled past the goal line.

More

Daly Ewing and Sara Hussey made plays from Cabrini's back line, making stops, carrying ahead, and finding Cavaliers upfield.

Courtney Keith claimed the win in goal for Cabrini and Susie Miller helped keep the shutout intact. Early in the fourth period, Miller fended three shots in succession to halt a Neumann breakaway from the right side.

Making History

In the win, three assists from Caroline Gallagher gave her sole possession of Cabrini's All-Time Assist record (37) and the Single-Season Assist record (15).

Gallagher will have the chance to catch Kelly Anne Farrell for Cabrini's Single-Season Points record (62), as Gallagher has accumulated 61 points in 2023.
