RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini University men's lacrosse team fell to No. 1-ranked Tufts University 24-7 Tuesday night at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
The Cavaliers (5-3) fell behind early as Tufts jumped out to a 3-0 lead by the 8:39 mark. Cabrini cut into the deficit with two goals from
Dillon McManus as the senior made it a 5-2 contest with 4:05 left. The two squads went goal-for-goal the remainder of the period, but the Jumbos held an 8-4 edge over the Cavs after the first 15:00. In the second, the Jumbos (6-0) scored nine unanswered goals and took a 17-4 lead into intermission.
In the third, after two more Tufts goals, Tommy Vaugh netted the Cavs only goal of the third period as the Jumbos took a 22-5 lead into the fourth. In the final period, McManus netted his third of the game for his third hattrick of the season, but it was moot as Tufts held a commanding 23-6 lead at that point eventually winning 24-7.
McManus's three goals led the Cavs offense on the night while freshman
Connor Herraiz tallied six assists for six points.
The Cavaliers return to action on Saturday, March 25 as Cabrini heads across Eagle Road for a bout with Eastern University. First face off is set for 1 p.m.
