ST DAVID'S, Pa. – Dillon McManus put up six goals Saturday afternoon as the Cabrini University men's lacrosse team topped Eastern University 19-8 on the other side of Eagle Road.
The Cavaliers jumped out to a 3-0 lead as McManus scored three straight within the first four minutes of action. The Eagles answered back with two goals, but
Matt Vanaman and
Quinn Carson each scored to extend the Cabrini lead to 5-2 to end the quarter. In the second,
Austin Bolton and McManus went back-to-back to put Cabrini up by five.. At the 6:05 mark, Eastern's Nicholas Fanelli found the back of the Cabrini net to cut the deficit to 7-3, but the Cavs responded with six straight goals and took a 13-4 lead into the break.
The Eagles netted two in a row to start the second half, but the Cavs offense pressed on as
Austin Bolton scored Cabrini's 14th goal of the day at the 10:53 mark. Cabrini went scoreless for the next eight minutes but back-to-back goals from
Griffin Ganster and McManus put the Blue and White up 16-6. The Eagles ended the third with a goal of their own, but
Jake Schneider put the Cavs back up by 10 at the start of the fourth. The two squads traded goals down the stretch as McManus netted his sixth of the contest at the 7:47 mark before Jake Riegler found the back of the net on an assist from
Jason Fridge to cap off the 19-8 victory.
Twelve Cavaliers recorded a goal on the day as McManus led the way with six on the afternoon while Bolton tallied three. Freshman
Connor Herraiz had four assists as 10 Cavaliers finished with at least one assist.
In goal,
Connor Watts had seven saves in 14 chances as he earned his fifth win of the year.
The Cavaliers return to action on Saturday, April 1 as the Blue and White host Marywood University to open Atlantic East Conference action. First face off is set for 1 p.m.
