RADNOR, Pa. – Ninth-ranked Dickinson darted out to a 7-1 first quarter lead as the Red Devils (4-0) defeated 12th-ranked Cabrini (1-2) 16-11 in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
Dillon McManus had three goals for the Cavs, while Austin Bolton and Tommy Vaughan each had two goals as Cabrini outshot the Red Devils 52-41 on the day.
Jake Schneider, Griffin Ganster, Connor Herraiz and Logan Cleary also had goals for Cabrini, with Herraiz netting four assists.
John McCormick picked up six ground balls, as he went 15-for-29 from the X, with Connor Watts getting five. Watts, in his first start of the season, made nine saves in goal.
Peter Hewitt and Matt Hughes each had two caused turnovers.
Will Farrell had five goals for Dickinson, with Owen Porter and Charlie Baughan each getting three.
Cabrini trailed 2-0 early in the first quarter, before Bolton scored on an assist form Jake Goss at the 10:10 mark to trail by one at 2-1. Dickinson would then score the next six goals to take an 8-1 lead with 8:10 left in the second quarter as Sascha Gannon scored unassisted.
Cabrini responded back with two goals as Vaughan scored on a Ganster assist at 7:30, then Ganster scored his first goal of the game just 1:13 left on an assist from Jake Schneider.
Trailing 9-3, Cabrini got back within three at 9-6 as McManus scored two of his three goals during a run, the last coming just eight seconds into the third quarter.
Three would be the closest Cabrini would get the rest of the way, with the last time coming with 3:24 left in the game as Bolton scored on a Herraiz assist, making the score 14-11.
Cabrini hosts Hampden-Sydney on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
