ASTON, Pa. – The Cabrini University men's lacrosse team trounced Neumann University Wednesday afternoon as the Cavaliers topped the Knights 23-6 on the road.
It was all Cavaliers from the start as Cabrini built up a 10-0 lead by the end of the first period.
Jake Schneider scored the opening goal for the Cavs, beginning 16 unasnwered goals from the Cabrini offense. Schneider,
Dillon McManus,
Gerry Ulatowski, and
Matt Vanaman all scored twice in the first. In the period, freshman keeper
Connor Watts made his only save on Neumann's only shot on goal. Then in the second,
Chris Porzelt faced three shots on goal and made all three saves keeping the shutout alive. The Cavs scored six more times in the second and
Jason Fridge capped off the 16 first-half goals with his first of three at the 3:28 mark and the two squads headed to intermission with the Cavaliers up 16-0.
In the third, the Knights found the back of the Cabrini net twice, but the Cavaliers scoring barrage continued with three more goals from the Blue and White. The Knights found their stride in the fourth as Neumann netted four goals, but the Cavs were in the driver's seat all afternoon and cruised to their second straight Atlantic East win.
Four Cavaliers tallied a hat trick in Wednesday's contest as Fridge, Ulatowski,
Connor Herraiz and
Nate Mazurek all tallied three goals on the day. Herraiz added two assists while McManus added three to his ledger.
The Cavaliers return to action on Wednesday, April 12 as the Cavaliers take on Centenary University. First face off is set for 3:30 p.m.
