Madison, NJ - Cabrini Field Hockey won their ultimate season opener, defeating FDU-Florham 3-2 on Friday afternoon.

With five minutes remaining in the first quarter, FDU-Florham scored the match's first goal. The Devils ripped a shot from the top right corner that found the back of the cage after being deflected in. 

The Cavaliers would answer with two goals in the second frame. The first came from midfielder Adrianna Jones, who hit a one timer off Caroline Gallagher's pass from the right side. With under a minute left in the half, Gallagher would dribble from midfield to net Cabrini's second goal.

In the 37th minute, the Cavs extended their lead to 3-1 off a Caroline Gallagher back-handed shot from the mid-left side. A late surge from FDU-Florham would allow them to score in the final quarter, as a pass from the left side was poked in at the right post.

The Cavaliers put steady pressure on the Devils throughout their 3-2 victory, out-shooting them 17-7 with 12 shots on frame.

Cabrini will resume Drew Fall Festival play on Saturday morning, returning to face Virginia Wesleyan University.

Milestone Watch - Caroline Gallagher entered play on Friday with 94 points. With two goals and one assist on the afternoon, she is now one score shy of 100 career points.
