Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Strong Second Half Earns Cavaliers a 5-0 Win

Radnor, PA - On Saturday afternoon, Cabrini Field Hockey hosted the Aggies of Delaware Valley University in the Cavs final home opener.

The Cavaliers first score came midway through the first quarter. Caroline Gallagher beat the defense up the right hand side of the field, then centered the ball to Adrianna Jones. Jones' one-timer was well placed low and away, but DelVal's goalkeeper made a remarkable save, diving to stop the ball stick side. It was ultimately Molly McGee's persistence on the rebound that earned her the game's opening goal.

For coach Jackie Neary's standards, the Cavaliers were a bit too quiet and flat for the next half hour, failing to score during that amount of game time. Later in the third quarter, Neary's group responded.

Midway through the third, Caroline Gallagher carried the ball the distance of the field, outpacing the DelVal midfield and defense. She lifted her breakaway shot into the high netting, giving the Cavs a 2-0 lead.

Just thirty seconds later, Cabrini would get on the board again. Off a Cavalier penalty corner, Morgan McClintock swung the ball to Caroline Gallagher, whose pass found Daly Ewing back post. Ewing converted the look and gave the Cavs a three goal lead.

The Cavalier's fourth score came during the untimed conclusion of the third period. Daly Ewing played to Caroline Gallagher, who ripped a head-on shot. Stationed in front of DelVal's goal, Adrianna Jones deflected the strike, redirecting it into the left side of the cage.

Cabrini's final goal came a minute into the fourth quarter, when Caroline Gallagher's shot split the pads of the Aggies' keeper.

After their second consecutive game with four different goal-scorers, Cabrini's coaching staff was happy with the way the team rebounded in the second half.

Cabrini is set to face The College of New Jersey on the road this Wednesday, 9/13.
