Gallagher Nets Hat Trick in Loss to #10 Rowan

Radnor, PA - On Saturday afternoon, Cabrini Field Hockey hosted the Profs of Rowan University.

The Cavaliers struck first with a penalty corner score. Daly Ewing fed the corner to Caroline Gallagher, who turned backhand and advanced the ball left. She continued in, flipped her stick, and flicked a shot inside the right post.

With ninety seconds until halftime, Rowan completed a hit-ahead pass, giving the Profs a breakaway opportunity. Courtney Keith sealed the inside post, however, forcing a missed shot near side. Despite six Rowan shots in the second quarter, Cabrini held Rowan scoreless until the half.

One minute into the third quarter, Rowan earned and converted a penalty shot to tie the game 1-1. Two minutes later, The Cavs retook the lead. Off consecutive corners, Caroline Gallagher received and made a play for the goal. On the second attempt, Gallagher danced to her left and found a window to shoot. Her softer shot made its way through traffic and into the right hand side of the cage.

Midway through the third period, Rowan netted the game's second equalizer. The Profs zipped a strong pass in, deflected near Cabrini's goal, and tapped the redirect in.

Rowan scored the go-ahead goal in the 40th minute, as they carried up the right side of the field and crossed to an open player in front of the cage. 3-2 Profs. Rowan added their fourth goal early in the fourth quarter, earning the score off a head on, wrap-around shot.

In the 51st minute, Caroline Gallagher cut the two goal deficit in half. Daly Ewing played a penalty corner to Sara Hussey, whose connecting pass found Gallagher after a fake swipe from Morgan McClintock. Gallagher's shot skipped into the right side of the cage, marking her third goal of the day.

Cabrini was unable to even the score late, giving Rowan the 4-3 victory on the rainy afternoon. The Cavaliers will host Alvernia on Wednesday, 9/27.
