Game Recap: Field Hockey |

McGee Scores Twice in Loss to Gulls

Beverly, MA - On Saturday, Cabrini Field Hockey made the trip to Massachusetts Bay for their match against the Gulls of Endicott College.

Cabrini put a lot of pressure on the Gulls' defense, earning 11 penalty corners and placing 11 shots on goal in the contest.

After a first period score from Endicott, Cabrini sought to get one of their own. In the game's 18th minute, the Cavs did just that. Caroline Gallgher made a backhanded flip pass to the right post, where Molly McGee was stationed. McGee redirected the pass mid-air into the cage, leveling the score 1-1.

Following the equalizer, Endicott netted two goals in short succession. Cabrini would answer five minutes later, as Caroline Gallagher buried a shot from the right side end line. Her strike connected with a Gulls' defender, but still had enough to split their goaltender.

Endicott quickly reclaimed a two goal advantage, redirecting a shot from the right wing into Cabrini's cage. The Cavaliers entered halftime trailing 4-2.

Cabrini netted their third goal midway through the third quarter. Following a shot from the stick of Daly Ewing, Molly McGee tracked the save, pursued the rebound, and earned her second goal on the day with her second chance shot.

Cabrini battled back several times, but Endicott squashed any hopes of a Cavalier comeback with two goals late in the match.

Endicott took the game by a score of 6-3, improving their record to 8-2 ten games into their season. The Gulls have outscored their opponents 49-16.

Cabrini will play two Atlantic East Conference games on the road next week: Wednesday, 10/4 at Neumann and Saturday, 10/7 at Immaculata.
