CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cabrini University men's lacrosse team usurped SUNY Cortland on Friday night, netting four of the game's last five goals to defeat the Red Dragons by a single score.
Tommy Vaughan and
Connor Herraiz recorded the equalizer and the game winner, respectively, as the duo combined for four goals and six assists. Cabrini returns home next Saturday to face Wooster.

Scoring Summary
- By the midpoint in the first quarter, Cabrini had jumped to an early 4-0 lead. They'd collect unassisted goals from Mason Lenart and Nate Mazurek, while Tommy Vaughan scored two goals assisted by Connor Herraiz.
- Cortland found their first goal twelve minutes in, but Griffin Ganster would score off a Tommy Vaughan helper to reclaim a four goal lead at the end of the first quarter.
- The Cavaliers and Red Dragons traded goals to open the second quarter. Cortland would score at the 13:42 mark before Mason Lenart's goal gave Cabrini a 6-2 advantage.
- Cortland got the wheels turning midway through the second quarter, as they'd score twice before halftime. The Red Dragons carried their momentum through the break, scoring the next four goals in the third quarter. Cortland's 6-0 run swung the game in their favor 8-6.
- Cabrini finally answered with two goals late in the third. Mario Leone would score off Nate Mazurek's assist before Griffin Ganster would score off a Connor Herraiz helper.
- Cortland snuck in a goal before the end of the third and scored to open the fourth quarter, giving the Red Dragons a 10-8 lead.
- The Cavaliers would even the score minutes later, as Jason Fridge and Dillon McManus supplied goals, each helped by Herraiz.
- Cortland retook the lead late, as the score read 11-10 with 3:26 to play.
- Tommy Vaughan delivered the equalizer a minute later, before John McCormick would gather the ensuing faceoff and feed to Connor Herraiz for the go-ahead goal.
- The Cavaliers held clung to their 12-11 lead for the final two minutes, earning their fourth win of the season.
Defensive
- Peter Hewitt earned 3 caused turnovers, followed by Matt Williams and Bear Evans with a pair.
- Hewitt, Williams and Evans would lead the ground ball category as well, collecting 5, 4, and 4 respectively.
- John McCormick went even on faceoffs, 13-27, recovering 11 ground balls.
- Brayden Skipper claimed the winning decision between the pipes, making 11 saves to 11 goals allowed.
