CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Cabrini women's soccer team suffered a narrow 1-0 loss in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play Wednesday night at Baptist Bible College. The setback is the Cavaliers first against a conference foe in 2008.
The Cabrini offensive attack registered 21 shots, including 12 on the Defenders net. The Cavaliers followed a first half comprised of 10 shots with 11 in the second frame.
Baptist Bible goalkeeper Melanie Williams tallied 12 stops in the victory.
Three Cabrini student-athletes recorded four total shots, led by three on goal from junior Sabina DeGisi. Sophomore Dana Nardello also notched three shots on the BBC net.
The Defenders secured a one-goal lead, an advantage they would never relinquish, just 11 minutes into the contest. Hannah Andrist deposited a rebound off the Cabrini post for the game's decisive marker at the 11:24 mark.
Sophomore goalkeeper Gianna Porretta totaled five saves in the loss.
The Cavaliers claimed stake to a commanding 11-0 count in corners.
Cabrini (5-5-0, 2-1-0) returns to action Saturday, October 4 at CSAC foe Gwynedd-Mercy College. Match time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
