GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. –
The Cabrini women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 overtime loss at Gwynedd-Mercy College Saturday. Senior Brittany Shields scored her third goal of the season in the loss.

The Cavaliers' offense registered 12 total shots against just four from the Griffins. Junior Sabina DeGisi led the Cabrini attack, recording three total shots.

While the first 45 minutes played scoreless, the Cavaliers held an 8-1 shot advantage at the intermission. In fact, the opening 74 minutes went without a score until the hosts broke the offensive stalemate.

Gwen Conte converted a corner kick attempt from Melissa Maguire, handing the Griffins a 1-0 lead at the 74:11 mark.

Cabrini knotted the scoring in the final four minutes, forcing the extra session. Freshman Molly Schwoebel was credited with the assist on the Shields' goal at the 86:23 mark.

The Cavaliers were held without a shot in each of the two overtimes. However, Gwynedd-Mercy struggled to generate much offense, as well, firing just one shot in each of the extra periods.

Kasey Reid's unassisted goal at the 104:34 mark clinched the victory for the Griffins.

Cavaliers sophomore goalkeeper Gianna Porretta tallied two saves in the loss.

GMC netminder Kristie Pollock collected 10 stops.

Cabrini (5-6, 2-2) returns to Edith Robb Dixon Field Tuesday, October 7, welcoming Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Immaculata University at 6:30 p.m.
