Volleyball Crowned Pita Pit Classic Champions

The Cabrini volleyball team extended its win streak to six straight with two victories Saturday against Kean University and Arcadia University on day two of the Pita Pit Classic at DeSales University. Senior Lindsay Martin was named the tournament's most valuable player.

Freshman Alexis Doss joined Martin on the all-tournament squad.

The Cavaliers collected a 3-1 win against Kean in the morning session. Cabrini claimed a commanding two-set lead after a convincing 25-4 victory in the second game. The Cavaliers closed out the match with a 25-13 triumph in the fourth frame.

Cabrini wrapped up the three-match weekend with a three-game sweep of Arcadia. The Cavaliers' posted its eighth shutout of the season with 25-18, 25-7 and 25-20 wins.

Cabrini became the first team since October 21, 2006 to defeat host DeSales on its home court Friday night with a 3-2 win. Fitttingly, it was the Cavaliers that last knocked off the Bulldogs on its own turf nearly two years ago.

Cabrini (12-8, 3-0) will gear-up for a critical Colonial States Athletic Conference home match against Neumann College Wednesday, October 8 at 7 p.m.
