RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball team suffered its first loss in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play Wednesday, landing on the wrong end of a five-set match with rival Neumann College at Tom Nerney Field House. Facing a 2-0 deficit, the Cavaliers rallied to force a decisive fifth set.
Junior setter Lizzie Williams recorded 38 assists and 12 digs, posting her fourth double-double of the season. Junior Traci Beltz led the Cavaliers' offense with a team-high 12 kills.
Senior Lindsay Martin, freshman Alexis Doss and freshman Beth Gillespie each tallied seven kills. Martin also collected nine digs.
Gillespie and Martin powered the Cabrini defense at the net, each registering four total blocks. Sophomore Stephanie Recklau notched two solo stuffs and six kills.
Senior libero Michelle Mola tallied a season-high 25 digs. Rookie Courtney Abel added 16 and senior Danielle Finnegan totaled 13.
The Cavaliers found themselves in a two-set hole after 25-19 and 26-24 losses. Cabrini evened the match after a dramatic 26-24 win in the fourth frame. The Knights clinched the win and remain unbeaten in CSAC play with a 15-11 victory in the final game.
Cabrini (12-9, 3-1) will look to rebound with two matches Saturday, October 11. The Cavaliers will head across Eagle Road for a 10 a.m. contest with Eastern University before traveling to CSAC foe Rosemont College to a 2 p.m. start.
