CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. –
The Cabrini women's soccer team has advanced to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal round on the strength of a thrilling 3-2 win in a penalty kicks shootout at Baptist Bible College Monday afternoon. The Cavaliers meet top-seeded Marywood University Wednesday.

Sophomore goalkeeper Gianna Porretta punched away the Defenders final try in extra kicks, clinching the victory. Moments before, junior forward Heather Thompson handed Cabrini a 3-2 advantage that would not be relinquished.

The Cavaliers jumped out to a 2-1 edge in the shootout after senior Nikki Duggan and senior Chrissy Regan supplied two scores. Duggan was named the CSAC Co-Player of the Week earlier Monday.

After freshman Kara Hinkelmon's missed shot, Baptist Bible's Melody Walsh knotted the contest and set the stage for Porretta's heroics.

Cabrini found itself in a 2-2 tie after Hannah Andrist's goal with slightly more than six minutes remaining in regulation. Hinkelmon provided the Cavaliers with a one-goal lead, 2-1, at the 58:45 mark.

Cabrini jumped out to a 1-0 advantage after senior Brittany Shields beat Defenders goalkeeper Melanie Williams. Hinkelmon's corner serve set-up the goal.

Baptist Bible evened the scoring, 2-2, with less than three minutes remaining before the intermission. Brittney Dewalt converted a pass from Laura Abbey in front of the Cabrini goal.

Porretta made four saves in the win. Her consecutive minutes scoreless streak came to an end at 406 following Dewalt's marker.

Williams posted five stops for the Defenders.

Despite an evenly contested match at the offensive end – both teams registered 13 total shots – the Cavaliers owned a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

With Centenary College's 1-0 win against Immaculata University, the Cyclones will meet second-seeded Gwynedd-Mercy College in the semifinal round.
