RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball team has advanced to Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Semifinal Round following a 3-0 win Tuesday against the sixth-seeded College of Notre Dame at Nerney Field House. Junior setter Lizzie Williams paced the Cavaliers with a team-high 27 assists.
Junior Traci Beltz and freshman Alexis Doss led the Cabrini attack, each registering eight kills. Doss was named the CSAC Rookie of the Year earlier Tuesday.
Senior Lindsay Martin, senior Kaitlyn Fetterman and sophomore Stephanie Recklau each tallied five kills. Martin also added nine digs.
Defensively, senior Michelle Mola guided the Cavaliers' backline with a club-leading 12 digs. Recklau led Cabrini at the net, notching three block assists. Doss tallied two block assists.
The Cavaliers raced to a one-set advantage on the strength of a commanding 25-8 victory in game one. The Cabrini offense set the tone, recording nine kills on 21 attempts.
The Cavaliers jumped to a 2-0 cushion following a 25-16 win in set two. Despite a relentless Gators' rally, Cabrini clinched the match with a 26-24 triumph in set three. Down 24-22, the Cavaliers ran off four straight points to advance.
Third-seeded Cabrini (19-12) hits the road to play second-seeded Philadelphia Biblical University Thursday. Match time is to be determined.
