Volleyball Sweeps Washington College, Martin Claims All-Tournament Honors

Senior Lindsay Martin earned all-tournament team recognition Sunday at the Baruch College Invitational.

NEW YORK, N.Y. –
The Cabrini volleyball team collected a 3-0 win against Washington College (Md.) Sunday at the Baruch College Invitational. The Cavaliers won two matches over the weekend, including Saturday's 3-0 win against the host Bearcats.

Senior Lindsay Martin earned all-tournament team recognition. Against Washington, she posted 12 kills on just 20 attempts and tallied three digs and three service aces.

Freshman Alexis Doss totaled 11 kills, three digs and one block assist. Classmate Danielle Kulich notched five kills.

Junior setter Lizzie Williams led the Cabrini offense to a .333 hitting percentage with 26 assists. On Saturday, the Cavalier offense registered a .407 attack clip against Baruch behind 29 helpers from Williams.

Defensively, senior Danielle Finnegan and freshman Courtney Abel recorded a team-high nine digs each. Williams contributed seven.

The Cavaliers clinched the victory with a resounding 25-14 victory in the third set, tallying a .444 attack percentage and the Shorewomen.

In the tournament's final match, Cabrini suffered a 3-0 loss against Stevenson University. Freshman Beth Gillespie and Kulich led the Cavaliers with nine and six kills, respectively.

Colby-Sawyer College was crowned the tournament champion, finishing with a perfect 4-0 record. Michelle Doody was named the tournament's most valuable player.

Cabrini (6-8) begins Colonial States Athletic Conference competition Wednesday, September 24 against Gwynedd-Mercy College at 7 p.m.
