GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball began its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) in emphatic fashion, sweeping Gwynedd-Mercy College in three games. Junior setter Lizzie Williams led the Cavaliers' offense to a .342 attack percentage with a team-high 27 assists.
Freshman outside hitter Alexis Doss ignited the Cabrini offense, leading the team with eight kills on 16 attempts and committing zero errors. Classmate Beth Gillespie collected six kills on nine tries.
Sophomore middle Stephanie Recklau buried five kills on six attempts, yielding an efficient .833 attack clip. Senior Kaitlyn Fetterman and junior Traci Beltz added four kills apiece.
Defensively, senior Michelle Mola guided the Cavaliers with a club-high 10 digs. Williams contributed eight to the Cabrini cause.
The Cavaliers cruised to a three-game sweep, winning each set by no less than six points. Cabrini grabbed the contest's opening frame with a commanding 25-8 victory.
The win was the Cavaliers fifth three-game sweep of the season. Cabrini has blanked its opponents in four of its last five victories, dating back to September 9 at Swarthmore College.
Cabrini (7-8) plays its first match in Nerney Field House in more than three weeks Saturday, September 27, welcoming CSAC foe Baptist Bible College for a 10:30 a.m. start.
