RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball team improved its record in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play to an unblemished 3-0 with a commanding 3-0 shutout win against Centenary College Tuesday night at Tom Nerney Field House. Senior Lindsay Martin powered the Cavaliers' attack with a team-high nine kills.
The victory carried the Cavaliers above the .500 mark for the first time during the 2008 season. Cabrini has yet to surrender a set versus a CSAC foe. The Cavaliers own a .308 attack percentage in conference play against just a .014 hitting clip from its opponents.
Junior setter Lizzie Williams, named the CSAC Player of the Week Monday, guided the offense with a club-high 26 assists. She also added seven digs and three service aces.
Rookie Alexis Doss contributed seven kills and four digs. Senior Kaitlyn Fetterman buried five kills on just eight attempts, logging a .500 attack percentage.
Senior libero Michelle Mola led the Cabrini backline with a team-best 11 digs. Senior Danielle Finnegan totaled six digs.
Sophomore Stephanie Recklau and freshman Beth Gillespie recorded three total blocks each.
Following a 25-13 win in set one, the Cavaliers coasted to a resounding 25-10 victory in set two. Cabrini notched 10 kills on 23 tries in second frame. On 25 attempts, the Cyclone successfully converted just four.
The Cavaliers clinched the win with a 25-19 triumph in the third and final stanza. Martin guided the surge with a team-high four kills, while Williams served nine helpers.
Cabrini (9-8, 3-0) momentarily breaks from its CSAC slate Friday, October 3 and Saturday, October 4 for the Pita Pit Classic hosted by DeSales University. The Cavaliers meet the host Bulldogs on Friday at 6 p.m.
