ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball team won its fifth straight match and remains unbeaten in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play following a 3-0 win at Cedar Crest College Saturday. Junior middle Stephanie Recklau powered a potent Cavaliers' offense with 13 kills in the victory.
The Cabrini attack record a .418 attack percentage, marking the fourth outing of the season that the Blue & White has hit better than .400. The Cavaliers have surpassed the .250 plateau 12 times this season, including the last five matches.
Recklau led the way, yielding a .667 attack percentage on 18 attempts and just one error. Recklau's season attack percentage, listed 12th nationally in the latest NCAA rankings (Oct. 4), has ballooned to a CSAC-best .426.
Senior outside hitter Traci Beltz notched eight kills. Sophomore opposite Alexis Doss and sophomore middle Beth Gillespie each chipped in with seven kills.
Senior setter Lizzie Williams guided the Cavaliers offense, totaling 32 assists. She also tallied five digs and two service aces.
Doss and senior opposite Kate Conahan led the Cabrini defense, each registering a team-best six digs.
The Blue & White grabbed a 1-0 advantage with a 25-15 win in the first set. Cabrini pushed its lead to 2-0 with a 25-16 triumph in game two before clinching the match with a 25-20 win in the third frame.
During their current five-match win streak, the Cavaliers have posted a .355 attack percentage while opponents are hitting a measly .084 rate. The Blue & White is averaging 12.7 kills and 10.7 assists per game during that stretch.
Cabrini (19-6, 8-0), now just one victory shy of the 20-win plateau for the second straight season under third-year head coach Eric Schaefer, travels to CSAC foe Baptist Bible for a 5 p.m. match Wednesday, October 21.
