HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - The Cabrini women's soccer team is now riding a program-record 10-match win streak following a 3-2 double-overtime win at Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Centenary College Thursday night. Junior midfielder
Dana Nardello scored the game's winning goal in the 103rd minute.
Centenary forward Jazmine Farrell's goal, her first of two for the game, at the 15:26 mark ended the nation's longest active consecutive scoreless minutes streak owned by the Cavaliers at 826. Cabrini's stingy defensive run goes in the NCAA books as the second-longest run of the season behind Arcadia University's stretch of 864 minutes without allowing a goal earlier this season.
Junior forward
Annmarie Kolla initiated the match's scoring, burying her seventh score of the season, an unassisted goal, at the 13:30 mark. Farrell answered less than two minutes following with her first game-tying goal of the evening.
Senior forward
Sabina DeGisi reasserted a one-goal advantage for the Blue & White, 2-1, at the 16:23 mark. DeGisi leads the Cavaliers' offense with 18 goals this season, matching her career best for a single season established as a sophomore in 2007.
Cabrini carried a 2-1 lead into the intermission despite being out-shot 11-5 by Centenary. Farrell scored the first goal of the second half, tying the contest at 2-2 in the 56th minute.
The following 47-plus minutes played scoreless until Nardello's third goal of the season at the 102:58 mark.
Cabrini freshman goalkeeper
Maddy Edwards notched eight saves for her sixth overall victory of the season. Centenary netminder Ashley Denti posted three saves in the loss.
The Cyclones out-shot the Cavaliers, 18-13, for the contest. However, the Blue & White owned a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Cabrini (12-5-1, 8-1-1) unofficially earns the No. 2 seed for the CSAC Tournament and will receive a bye in the quarterfinal round. The Cavaliers will host a semifinal contest Wednesday, November 4 at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Opponent and game time is yet to be determined.
