Volleyball Cruises to 3-0 Win at Ursinus College

The Cabrini volleyball team claimed its fourth straight victory Tuesday with a 3-0 win at Ursinus College.

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. –
The Cabrini volleyball team continued its early-season success Tuesday, sweeping Centennial Conference opponent Ursinus College, 3-0. Senior setter Lizzie Williams notched 27 assists in the victory against the Bears.

Williams shared the wealth versus Ursinus, helping the Cavaliers offense register eight players with at least one kill. Senior outside hitter Traci Beltz recorded a team-high eight kills.

Sophomore outside hitter Alexis Doss posted seven kills, while freshman opposite Megan Ryan tallied five.

Defensively, sophomore libero Courtney Abel led the Cabrini backline with 17 digs. Ryan totaled 13 digs, while Beltz added eight.

Behind a .270 attack percentage, the Cavaliers jumped out to a one-game advantage after a 25-17 victory in the first set. Cabrini's offense tallied a match-best 14 kills against the Bears en route to the early lead.

The Cavaliers pushed its cushion to 2-0 with a convincing 25-13 victory in the second game. Beltz led the Blue & White attack at the net, registering three kills.

Cabrini closed out Ursinus with a 25-16 win in the clinching third set. Williams guided the Cavaliers to the decisive victory with 10 assists.

Four of Cabrini's first five wins of the season, including the last three, have ended in three-game sweeps. The Cavaliers wrapped up day two at the Moravian College Tournament with 3-0 victories against Arcadia University and Centenary College.

Cabrini (5-1) returns to Nerney Field House Thursday, September 10 against backyard-rival Eastern University at 7 p.m.
