Women's Basketball Suffers 77-60 Setback Against Neumann University

RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini women's basketball team suffered a 77-60 loss Thursday night against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Neumann University in Nerney Field House. Senior combo guard Alyssa Brady led four scorers in double figures for the Cavaliers with 17 points in the loss.

Senior combo guard Kate Walck tallied 15 points, and added four rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Senior point guard Deana DiAmico recorded 13 points, four boards and four helpers.

Junior guard Julie Bonomo played a spirited 25 minutes of the bench for Cabrini, notching 10 points, four rebounds and three assists. Brady and sophomore guard Laura Caron each claimed a team-high seven boards.

The Cavaliers trailed by 20 points at halftime, 40-20. Neumann shot a blistering 51.5 percent from the floor in the opening period against a 26.3 percent clip from the Blue & White.

Behind a 13-1 run, the Knights opened up a game-high 27-point cushion, 57-30, at the 13:28 mark of the second half.

Cabrini answered with a 25-9 run over the next nine minutes to trimmed its deficit to 11 points, 66-55, with 4:11 remaining in the second half. Walck ignited the rally with 12 points and Brady added seven.

The Cavaliers pulled to within 10 points, 68-58, at the 2:12 mark. However, Neumann closed out the contest with a  9-2 spurt, sealing its sixth straight victory. The Knights shot 7-for-9 from the foul line in the final 120 seconds.

Knights junior forward Katie Young recorded a double-double with 22 points and 17 rebounds. Senior guard Nicole Feby scored 20 points in the win.

Neumann (11-4, 7-0) remains one of two unbeaten teams in the CSAC South Division, with Gwynedd-Mercy College (9-3, 5-0).

Cabrini (7-7, 5-2) will visit the “World's Most Famous Arena” – Madison Square Garden – for a third straight season Saturday, Jan. 23 versus Immaculata University. Game time in the “Big Apple” is set for 5 p.m.
