HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Cabrini women's basketball team is riding a season-best four-game win streak following a 68-64 win Saturday afternoon at Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Centenary College. Senior combo guard Alyssa Brady led the Cavaliers in scoring for the 13th time this season in the victory.
Brady recorded her team-high fourth double-double of the season with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Brady shot 9-for-13 from the floor overall. She swiped three steals and dished two assists.
Senior point guard Deana DiAmico tallied 14 points, four rebounds and three thefts. DiAmico is now just 27 points shy of reaching the 1,000-point plateau for her Cabrini career.
Senior forward Kasey Agostinacchio also reach double figures for the second straight game, scoring 10 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the floor. Agostinacchio claimed five boards.
The Cavaliers shot 46.9 percent from the floor in the first half, but held just a one-point lead, 38-37, at the intermission. The Cyclones kept pace with the visitors, also shooting 46.9 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
Cabrini trailed by eight points, 56-48, at the 9:23 mark of the second half before a 15-6 run over the next seven minutes resulted in a 63-62 edge. Brady supplied the Blue & White a lead it would never relinquish with a lay-in with 2:11 remaining.
Agostinacchio sparked the decisive spurt with one of her two 3-point baskets. She is coming off a season-high 15-point performance in Cabrini's 77-53 win at Cedar Crest College Jan. 28.
The Cavaliers led by five points, 67-62, with 31 seconds left after DiAmico converted two free throws. She shot 6-for-8 from the line for the game.
The Cabrini defense clamped down in the second half, limiting the Cyclones to just 32.3 percent shooting from the field. Centenary shot 5-for-21 from the 3-point line for the game.
Senior guard Kristen Camuso, ranked sixth in the CSAC in scoring (16.9) through Friday, was one of three Cyclones in double figures, tallying 15 points. She shot just 6-for-22 overall and 3-for-13 from long range.
Junior forward Marissa DiStasio scored 15 points and sophomore guard Jasmine Rosa added 11.
The loss is just the second of the season for Centenary in CSAC play this season. The Cyclones and Marywood University entered Saturday atop the league's North Division with just one loss each.
Cabrini (11-7, 8-2) returns to Nerney Field House for a non-conference contest versus Rutgers University – Camden Monday, Feb. 1 at approximately 8 p.m.
