RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's soccer team claimed its fifth victory its last six outings, rolling to a 4-0 win versus Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Keystone College on Friday afternoon at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Junior midfielder Sammy Thompson scored one goal and added one assist for the Cavaliers in the win.
Thompson helped the Blue & White start the match's scoring, setting up sophomore forward Dana Drake with her fourth goal of the season in the 8th minute. The Cavaliers pushed their advantage to 2-0 less than two minutes following when senior forward Annmarie Kolla converted her fifth score of the year on a feed from senior midfielder Dana Nardello.
Thompson netted Cabrini's third tally, her sixth of the season, taking a pass inside the box from Nardello at the 19:15 mark. Senior back Brianna Conner's second goal of the season ballooned the Cavaliers' cushion to 4-0 in the 29th minute. Sophomore back Kaitlyn Smith contributed an assist on the match's final score.
The Cabrini offense out-shot the Giants for the match, 24-4. Junior midfielder Kara Hinkelmon and sophomore midfielder Maddy Edwards led the charge, each notching five shot attempts.
Senior Gianna Porretta and freshman Sarah Means combined the goalkeeping duties for the shutout. Porretta earned her seventh win of the season without recording a save. Means totaled two stops in the second half.
Freshman goalkeeper Samantha Finch collected nine saves for the Giants in the loss.
Through eight matches, the Blue & White has out-scored its CSAC opponents, 27-4.
Today's match was set to be played tomorrow at Keystone. However, due to inclement weather in the area, the match was moved up one day and played at Cabrini.
Cabrini (12-3-0, 7-1-0) plays its final home match of the regular season against CSAC foe the College of Notre Dame on Tuesday, Oct. 19. Match time against the Gators is set for 4:30 p.m.
