RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's basketball team snapped a brief two-game skid with a resounding 70-56 win against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) North Division-leading Marywood University Saturday afternoon at Nerney Field House. Prior to the game, the Cavaliers' four seniors were honored for their hard work and dedication to the program throughout the last four seasons.
Senior point guard Deana DiAmico, who was also recognized before the start of the game for scoring her 1,000th career point on Feb. 1, led the Cabrini charge with 23 points on 8-for-12 shooting overall. DiAmico drained 4-of-6 3-point attempts.
Senior combo guard Kate Walck tallied 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. Walck scored 10 of her 14 points in the second half.
Senior combo guard Alyssa Brady and senior forward Kasey Agostinacchio each scored 11 points. Brady dished four assists and collected three rebounds. Agostinacchio converted 3-of-4 long-range attempts, all of which came in critical stretches of the second half.
Cabrini led 48-47 with 9:07 on the clock before a triple from Agostinacchio pushed the Cavaliers' advantage to four points with 8:52 remaining. She knocked down two more trifectas in the final 5:02 of the contest, helping the Blue & White build a convincing 13-point advantage at the 3:06 mark.
The Cavaliers led by a game-high 17 points, 70-53, after DiAmico sunk two free throws with 41 ticks remaining. DiAmico scored 12 points after the intermission.
The Blue & White trailed by two points at halftime, 30-28. The Cavaliers grabbed a lead they would never relinquish after two free throws from Walck at the 14:17 mark of the second half.
The Cabrini defense forced the Marywood offense into 21 turnovers, which resulted in 22 points on the offensive end.
Lizzy Green, Mariah Schaeffer and Marielle Thorsen each totaled 13 points for the Pacers in the loss.
The victory keeps the Cavaliers within two games of CSAC South Division-leading Neumann University and one game behind Gwynedd-Mercy College. Cabrini plays at Gwynedd-Mercy Feb. 15 and at Neumann Feb. 20.
Prior to the start of the game against the Pacers, the Cavaliers hosted their annual alumni game.
