Women's Soccer Runs Past Cedar Crest College in CSAC Opener, 7-0

Sophomore forward Dana Drake scored her first career goal in Cabrini's 7-0 win against Cedar Crest College on Saturday.

RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini women's soccer team began its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) regular season schedule in grand fashion, running past Cedar Crest College, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The Cavaliers' offense boasted six different goal-scorers in the victory.

Sophomore forward Alex Tralie led Cabrini with two goals and added one assist against the Falcons. Junior midfielder Kara Hinkelmon deposited one score and distributed two helpers.

Senior goalkeeper Gianna Porretta, who also saw some field time in the second half, and sophomore forward Dana Drake each deposited their first career goals in the victory. Senior back Brianna Conner and junior back Amy Loesser also found the back of the net.

Drake supplied the Cavaliers with a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute, converting a pass into the box from Hinkelmon. Cabrini owned a 3-0 advantage at the intermission following Tralie's two markers separated by just six minutes.

The Blue & White ballooned its lead to 4-0 only 48 seconds into the second half when Conner pushed a rebound past Cedar Crest sophomore goalkeeper Daniella Mendez. Hinkelmon pushed the cushion to 5-0 in the 62nd minute.

Loesser's unassisted goal in the 67th minute handed the Cavaliers a 6-0 lead. Porretta ended the scoring with just under two minutes remaining.

The Cabrini offense out-shot the Falcons, 43-1, for the match. The Cavaliers earned five corner kicks.

Porretta tallied one save between the pipes in 45 minutes played. Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Means played the entire second half, but went unchallenged by the Cedar Crest attack.

Mendez notched 20 saves in the loss for the Falcons.

Cabrini (6-1-0, 1-0-0) returns to its non-conference schedule on the road on Wednesday, Sept. 22 versus Arcadia University. Match time against the Knights is set for 4 p.m.
