Women's Basketball Rights Ship, Tops Keystone College Away From Home, 63-57

The Cabrini women's basketball team snapped a three-game skid with a 63-57 win on Thursday at Keystone College.

The Cabrini women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 63-57 victory on Thursday night at Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Keystone College. Freshman guard Brittany Sandone matched a career-high, scoring 16 points for the Cavaliers in the win.

Sandone shot 5-for-6 from the field overall, including a perfect 3-for-3 clip from the 3-point stripe. She also collected four steals and gathered three rebounds.

Over the last five games, Sandone is averaging 13.2 points per game, shooting 46.7 percent overall and 55.0 percent from long range.

Freshman forward Annie Rivituso also matched a career-best, tallying 10 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the floor. Rivituso corralled four rebounds.

Freshman forward Colleen Stewart and freshman guard MaryKate McCann each kicked in nine points. Stewart led the Blue & White with six rebounds.

Despite the game starting nearly 45 minutes late due to travel complications, the Cavaliers owned a 28-23 advantage at halftime. Rivituso led the Cabrini offense in the first half with eight points.

The Blue & White quickly expanded its lead to 14 points, 44-30, with 15:27 remaining in the second half. Senior guard Julie Bonomo capped Cabrini's 16-7 run with a 3-point field goal.

The Cavaliers' sustained its 14-point cushion, 53-39, with 9:50 left.

However, the Giants twiced pulled within two points in the final 5:20. Two free throws from sophomore guard Jasmine Harris at the 3:24 mark cut the Cabrini lead to 55-53.

Yet, the Blue & White pushed its advantage back to six points, 59-53, with 42 ticks remaining after a free throw from Bonomo.

Harris guided the Keystone attack, scoring a team-best 16 points in 26 minutes played off the bench. Senior guard Ellen Fallon totaled 14 points.

Cabrini (5-12, 4-5 CSAC) plays its second straight road game on Saturday, Jan. 29 versus CSAC opponent Philadelphia Biblical University. Game time against the Crimson Eagles is set for 2 p.m.
