RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini College women's soccer team extended its current win streak to three games with tonight's 1-0 win over the visiting Neumann University Knights. The win puts the Cavaliers in a tie with the Knights at the top of the CSAC standings at 4-1.
It was obvious from the opening touch that the Cavaliers were going to try to exert their offensive and defensive pressure on the Knights. Cabrini pushed the tempo, keeping the ball on the Neumann side of the pitch for most of the first half.
In the 28th minute, Cabrini seniors
Kara Hinkelmon and
Sammy Thompson connected on a corner kick for the game's lone goal. Hinkelmon's corner kick service found Thompson's forehead as she sliced through the Knight's defense.
The Cavaliers continued their pressure after the break. Cabrini focused on possessing the ball and working the flanks, while the Knights tried to play long balls to their forward making runs. Cabrini goalkeeper
Maddy Edwards and the Cavaliers' defense was certainly up to the challenge.
The Blue and White allowed only three shots and one corner kick in the game's 90 minutes. Edwards recorded saves on the three Neumann shots.
Cabrini (6-4-1, 4-1 CSAC) will travel to Clarks Summit, Pa. on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. match at Baptist Bible College.
