CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Cabrini College women's soccer team maintained its spot at the top of the CSAC standings with today's 2-1 road victory at Baptist Bible College. The win improves the Cavaliers' record to 7-4-1 and 5-1 in the conference.
The Defenders opened the scoring in the 39th minute, but it took Cabrini less than one minute to return the favor. Freshman
Danielle Kane scored her first collegiate goal from about 20 yards off a feed from sophomore Lauren Pallister.
Ten minutes after the halftime break, Cabrini's leading scorer, senior
Kara Hinkelmon, gave the Cavaliers a lead they would not relinquish. Hinkelmon hit a screaming shot that deflected off a BBU defender.
With a 2-1 advantage, the Cavaliers continued to try and extend their lead. Cabrini held a 8-1 second half shot advantage and notched six corner kicks to BBC's none.
Hinkelmon led the Cavaliers with five shots, four on goal. Senior
Sammy Thompson added four shots. Junior goalie
Maddy Edwards tallied four saves in the win.
Cabrini will travel to Baltimore, Md. on Wednesday, October 12 to face the College of Notre Dame (Md.). Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
