RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini College volleyball team emerged from a difficult day with a 1-1 record. The Cavaliers lost 3-0 at #5 Eastern University then returned to Nerney Field House to down Marywood University 3-0. Their record now stands at 13-9 overall. The win over Marywood keeps Cabrini undefeated in CSAC competition at 5-0.
Cabrini faced a monumental task on Saturday morning as they crossed Eagle Road to face Eastern University on Homecoming. The Cavaliers may have been a little overwhelmed as the match began, as they dropped game one 25-11. Cabrini woke up for game two, falling 25-22. The Blue and White played the early portion of game three close, but with the score 7-6, the Eagles scored 11 of the next 15 points en route to a 25-15 win.
Junior
Danielle Carrozza led the Cavaliers with seven kills. Sophomore setter
Alaina Clark added 16 assists and sophomore libero
Sophia Sokolovich tallied 17 digs.
After a short break, the Cavaliers returned to the Dixon Center to face Marywood University. After facing one of the best teams in the nation, Cabrini stepped up its play against the Pacers. The Cavaliers jumped out to an early 9-4 lead but the Pacers eventually trimmed the lead to 16-15. Cabrini scored three quick points and didn't look back, as they took game one 25-19.
Trailing 3-1 early in game two, the Cavalier went on an 8-2 run to take control of the set, eventually winning the set 25-18.
Cabrini was determined to finish the match in three games, as they opened the third set taking 10 of the first 13 points. The Cavaliers would extend their lead to 21-9, closing the match with a 25-14 win.
Senior
Alexis Doss paced the Cavaliers offense with 13 kills, while Carrozza added 12 and 12 digs. Sokolovich recorded 24 digs, while Clark tallied 40 assists.
Cabrini will travel to Clarks Summit, Pa. on Tuesday to face Baptist Bible College at 7:00 p.m.
