BALTIMORE, Pa. – The Cabrini College women's soccer season came to an end tonight with the Cavaliers' 2-0 loss to the Springfield College Pride in the first round of the NCA Tournament at Johns Hopkins University's Homewood Field. The Blue and White end the 2011 season with a record of 13-6-2.
The Cavaliers struggled early in the first half while trying to gain some consistency. The Pride took advantage of those struggles, netting the game's first goal in the 14th minute as senior Katie Mantee connected on a shot from just outside Cabrini's penalty box.
Seventeen minutes later, Cabrini fell further behind as Springfield's Jenelle Jaboda lofted a shot from about 30 yards out that fell just under the crossbar to give the Pride a 2-0 lead.
Cabrini regrouped during the halftime break and played better in the second half. The Cavaliers created a few scoring opportunities but each time, the Pride made a play to turn the tide.
Junior goaltender
Maddy Edwards recorded five saves in the match.
The loss closes the careers of Cabrini seniors
