RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini College women's basketball team fell to 5-4 on the year after today's 46-43 nonconference loss to the University of Scranton Lady Royals at Nerney Field House. Sophomores

Brittany Sandone paced the Cavaliers with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Scranton's victory was the 758th for head coach Mike Strong, surpassing former St. John Fisher coach Phil Kahler as the winningest coach in the history of Division III women's basketball.
The Lady Royals got out to an early lead in the low scoring first half, establishing a 6-1 lead three minutes into the game. Scranton maintained its advantage until the 7:46 mark, when sophomore Laithie Faison connected on a free throw and a lay-up on Cabrini's next position to give the Cavaliers their first lead at 13-11.
The teams took a 21-21 score into halftime. The Blue and White shot just 29.2% from the floor, including 1-8 from three-point range, and connected on just six of its 13 free throw attempts. Cabrini's defense kept them in the game, holding the Lady Royals to just 31.3% shooting and recording a 28-19 rebounding advantage.
The score remained tight through the first nine minutes of the second half but the momentum changed with 10:58 remaining in the game. With the Lady Royals leading 33-31, the officials handed Scranton's Coach Strong a technical foul.
As McCann missed the first of her two foul shots, Strong was assessed a second technical foul and subsequently ejected from the game. McCann connected on two of her four free throw attempts to tie the score at 33, but it would be the final tie of the game.
Over the next five minutes, Scranton went on a 10-4 run to establish a game-high six point lead. Sandone's lay-up with :42 on the clock cut the deficit to 45-43 but the Lady Royals hit three free throws in the final minutes to seal the win.
Scranton shot just 37% from the floor in the second half and went 8-19 from the charity stripe, but the Cavaliers could not take advantage, shooting just 33% from the floor and 56% from the free throw line.

Colleen Stewart grabbed a team-high nine rebounds for the Cavaliers.
The Blue and White will take a break for the holidays and return to the court on January 3, 2012, when they host Susquehanna University at the Nerney Field House. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
