READING, Pa. – The Cabrini College women's basketball team stepped out of Colonial States Athletic Conference play tonight and snapped its three game winning streak. The Cavaliers traveled to Albright College and fell to the Lions 53-47, dropping their overall record to 4-3.
Cabrini jumped out to an early lead, scoring the game's first six points. The Lions erased the Cavaliers' lead just over two minutes later. The first half would remain tight, as the teams combined to tie the score six times before the halftime break.
The teams took a 30-30 tie into the locker room after the game's first 20 minutes.
The Blue and White opened the second half with a three-pointer by sophomore
MaryKate McCann to take a 33-30 lead. Albright responded with a 13-2 run, grabbing the game's momentum and the scoreboard at 43-35.
Trailing by eight points, the Cavaliers went cold. Over the next 10:28, Cabrini scored just six points, allowing the Lions to extend their lead to a game-high 13 points with just over five minutes on the clock.
Cabrini shot just 26.2% from the floor after the break, including 1-7 from behind the three-point line.
Sophomore
Brittany Sandone led the Cavaliers with 13 points, five assists and three steals. Fellow sophomore
Colleen Stewart added a season-high 11 points in the loss.
Leithie Faison narrowly missed a double-double, pairing nine points with her game-high 10 rebounds.
The Cavaliers will return to CSAC action on Saturday when they travel to Allentown, Pa. to face Cedar Crest College at 1:00 p.m.
